What are flashcards? Flashcards are practice cards about the subject matter with, for example, a concept on one side and the explanation or definition on the other, a English word on one side and the (French, Spanish) translation on the other, or a chemical symbol on one side and the element it refers to on the other. What are they for? Flashcards can be used for many subjects like latin, languages, chemistry, math formulas, science, Geograhpy, etc.. How do you make them? You can make flashcards yourself, via digital tools such as Quizlet, Anki, or ask Maeve. Once you have made the practice cards, follow these steps: 1. Practice with a sufficiently large stack of cards (More than 20). 2. Read the concept or question on one side. 3. Give yourself a moment to think. Then formulate the answer or write it down on a scrap of paper. 4. Turn the card over and check your answer. 5. Leave all the cards in the stack, even those for which you formulated the correct answer. Work through the stack until you have answered each card correctly at least once. 6. Repeat the same stack of cards during your next study session. Change the order. 7. If you were able to formulate the correct answer at least three times in different study sessions, you can remove the card from the stack for a while. When it's time for a bigger review, you can add it back in. This way, you study in a spread-out manner.

Important info For some subjects, it is important to write down the solution so that you can also check the spelling. Think of vocabulary or chemical formulas. Flashcards are often used to study concepts or facts. That's fine, but be aware that in order to process the material in depth, you also need to think about the connections between different parts of the material.
